4 Lessons I’ve Learned From Running Amazon Niche Sites

Like I’ve mentioned before, running Amazon niche sites is just one example of ways to make money online. Amazon niche sites have been really profitable for a lot of Amazon Affiliates out there but I think for me personally, it is still working its way. There’s lots of tweaking, testing and things to learn. Although Alex has put in a great effort for his Build Rank Profit course, nothing beats doing the real thing and playing around with your niche sites. So if you are still reading and still bumming around, stop doing that and get your arses moving.. and create a niche site!

Today I want to share a few tips on what I’ve learned from running Amazon Niche Sites

1. Traffic

To put it simply, if your traffic sucks, your earnings will suck too. But it’s important to emphasize that I’m only generalizing here. Certain products convert well despite having less traffic. I’ve got one niche site that hasn’t been able to convert well despite having 800 visits a month just from organic traffic alone. Of course, work is on the way to make sure that tweaking improves conversion rates.

Traffic must be your main focus and it all boils down towards creating great content and backlinks. Haven’t we heard that before?? If you’ve mastered the art of doing that, then traffic will come to you and you should begin to see sales coming in. I know I’m making things a little simple here but if you are aiming to get good traffic for your site you need to focus on a few things:

  • Choose A Good Niche that has high demand and will continue to be relevant for years to come
  • Do keyword research ( this is for passive traffic)
  • Content Creation
  • Backlink building
  • CONSISTENCY

Notice how I’ve highlighted consistency? Remember your niche site won’t stay on the first page of Google forever unless it is some high authority site or an already aged domain so you can’t ignore your niche site and leave it to fend on its own. Therefore, you need to maintain at least the content creation and backlink building part.

2. When Writing Reviews….

While the duplicate content myth doesn’t exist, having 20 sites promoting the same product, writing the same product description in the copy paste format will definitely mean that your website won’t rank as well on the search engines.  Obviously, you can’t beat Amazon to that and you cannot change the product features but you can describe it in a different way that will not be the exact same thing on Amazon.

If you were to visit Amazon for any product description, chances are they will list it out in some bullet form or paragraph form. Alter the format and make it unique. There are hundreds of ways you can do it but I leave it to your imagination. The other way to do it is to weave a story and describe the item. You can write it in a way just like you’ve actually used the item.

Here is an example on how you can do that.

3. Don’t Forget Relevant Content

I’ll spare you the lecture of relevant content but mass producing niche sites without having content to back it up is sure to put your site on a fast track to failure, well at least for me. I’ve tried listing niche sites with just product reviews and it just sucks real bad. I’ve taken the other method of writing relevant information pertaining to the products that also include things like:

  • Top Selling…
  • How to Buy…
  • Top Selling For X Brand…
  • Top Selling Product X Under $100…
  • Top X Accessories for Product
  • How To Use Product X…
  • Bestsellers Of…

Don’t get me wrong. You will definitely need to list your Amazon product descriptions and reviews, but if your product is backed by strong relevant content that the search engines also love, your site will rank higher. The best kind of content should have these keywords i.e “How to… Bestselling… Discounts… Promotion… Top Selling.. Top… etc because it also appeals to people!

When talking about relevant content, nothing is more foolish than adding a product that is not related to your content.

4. Affiliate Linking Within Content

When talking about affiliate linking WPZon Builder, the WordPress plugin I use for my Amazon Niche sites have made it easier for me in terms of product reviews that links directly to Amazon, “Buy It Now” button that links directly to Amazon and Additional Relevant Products that can be added as widgets that also links directly to Amazon.

I’ve never been happier using it for my niche sites. Definitely recommend it!

Despite that, affiliate linking within content is something that you need to do it yourself. If you’ve created content specifically for certain products, (not product reviews as in unique content!) linking to products directly is a sure way of getting more people to buy from you. The importance here is to have content that is relevant enough and each of them linked to the relevant products. My other advice here is not to reveal too much on your article but pique your reader’s interest by guiding them to the product page and let Amazon do the rest of the work for you. Amazon spends millions of dollars each year just to get people to buy products from them so even if you have trouble convincing them, let Amazon do it for you.

Ok, I know there’s lots more but bear with me as this 4 lessons are not the only one you’ll hear from me. But I hope they will help you in some way. :)

Hi Bryan,

Alex is really doing great showing the techniques and tools that were least cared. I’m pretty much convinced, though I have not started any yet. I bought the WPZon Builder and the plugin is really great. Recommend to anybody interested in Amazon affiliate.

Hey Suresh,

Alex is definitely the man to follow..Hmm, I think you definitely should start working on a niche site. Better to test what you’ve learned and see if it works then just leave it for later. I think starting even one niche site and focusing on one is a good idea. :)

Bryan,

Great article. Selling Amazon Affiliate stuff is only something I have “touched” on, but you give a real thorough review of what I think it would take to really be success with them.

Steve,

Thanks for dropping by! I promise to make it more thorough in future and write it from my own perspective. Sure Amazon affiliate sites are good to help you make some money but don’t expect to see money pouring in with little effort or within a short time.

I have always fancied starting a niche site just for amazon. But the problem is that I cannot find the right niche. I think we just have to start somewhere. So that is what I am going to do. Although I will also look into niches where adsense can generate good passive income.

Hey Rison,

I think there are heaps of products on amazon but yeah I know what you mean. Finding the right niche can be tough and challenging when most of the good niches have already been taken but that is not to say you can’t choose it. Over the past few months, I’ve uncovered many more niche products to sell and with low competition!

To find a good niche, you basically need time to research and figure out if it is worthwhile creating a niche site and then investing time and money towards making it work. It can be a hard thing but without doing prior research you will most likely fail. For me although I have discovered good products to sell, time is my enemy. I can’t manage too many because spreading yourself too thin will also set you up for failure.

Adsense just doesn’t work well for me. I know for some it does but Amazon sites are helping me make more money than Google Adsense. Anyway just my 2 cents worth. See you around.

These are great tips, Bryan. I learned a lot just by stumbling upon your post. As a newbie to Internet Marketing (as I am still in the process of slowly learning some stuff to broaden my Internet Marketing know-how), I have seen some websites with poor reviews of Amazon products. With such awareness, I guess when I start my own Amazon niche, this is where I should focus on.
