Wholesale Liquidators, Distributors and Suppliers – How Do You Find Them?

As some of you might already know, sourcing products online that are cheap and at affordable wholesale prices can be a real pain in the bum. For the average person, the whole process is an endless search on search engines that will hopefully end up with a good supplier. More often than not searching for wholesale liquidators, suppliers or distributors can be a really disappointing waste of time because it’s either you fall into the trap of finding a supplier who cheated you or are just not legitimate suppliers. It is also good to know that a lot of suppliers are middleman and not actual wholesalers.

In my previous 2 posts, I’ve talked about starting an online store and choosing the right E-commerce services to help you get started. But without having something to sell, it’s also a waste of time. If setting up an online store appeals to you, I highly suggest that you start looking for a directory that will help smoothen and ease the entire process.

To date, there are only 2 directories online I trust to get you the supplies you need. One is Worldwide Brands and the other is Salehoo. Doba is not as reliable as Salehoo and WWB in terms of getting legitimate suppliers.

The difference between Worldwide Brands and Salehoo is that the former has a massive database of worldwide suppliers for just about anything. Salehoo comes in a close second but don’t underestimate what Salehoo can offer for your online store business. WWB is also more expensive to join than Salehoo.

What You Will Get As A Member

Personally, I’ve been using Salehoo to source products online. The process is so much easier when you have a wholesale or supplier directory to help source products for you. You don’t have to worry if a supplier is going to cheat you. Some features that you would expect to find include:

  • A directory of 8000 legitimate suppliers painstakingly researched and added to the Salehoo Directory. This list is ever-growing.
  • A great support forum that will help source almost anything to help with your business.
  • Auction trends and Marketing tools i.e Research Labs
  • An Education Section to help you if you are lost about starting your online store or ebay business.
  • Supplier reviews that are frequently updated to ensure that the directory is up-to-date.
  • A recently introduced Salehoo Store ( that works pretty much the same as Shopify)

To give you an idea how the members section looks like, here is a screenshot of what you would expect to see as soon as you login to the members section of Salehoo.

The Pros

One thing that I really like about Salehoo is the Research Labs section. If you are keen on using eBay to sell your items, this tool is a MUST USE! I don’t think I’ve ever come across a similar tool like this to do market research on eBay anywhere else. Best of all it comes free when you signup to Salehoo. This section is where you will

  • Find tools to decide if a product has too much competition in the market to sell based on the keywords you choose.
  • You can also find out when is the best time to start selling things on eBay (bet you didn’t know that).
  • It also gives you an idea about the movers and shakers on eBay as well.
  • Gives you the trend of a particular product on eBay. Helps you see if it’s getting unpopular, popular or just at a plateau.
  • Compiles your data into a succinct form that can be easily saved and retrieved for future research purposes.

This is how it will look like on your screen.

As you can see, there are heaps you can find out using the Research Labs option. I know I’m emphasizing this again but this tool is indispensable in Salehoo.

Let’s say you are not so interested to sell things on eBay. Not to worry, like I said if you want to setup your own E-commerce Online Store (which I highly recommend), there’s plenty you can find on the Salehoo Directory of suppliers. Let’s say you can’t find any from their directory of 8000 suppliers, just simply ask a question on the Salehoo forum and their tireless employees will help source dropshippers, wholesalers and liquidators from all around the world.

This is an example of how it will look like.

Any Cons?

Salehoo is definitely a great wholesale liquidator, supplier and distributor directory. But there are some unscrupulous suppliers who have cheated people before but thankfully Salehoo staff members have been quick to remove them off the list. Despite this, they have always advise members to be cautious and communicate with wholesalers before choosing to buy from them. Even with all the tools and facilities available, every member who joins will inevitably face problems of thinking what to sell.

There is always a learning curve when it comes to sourcing suppliers and a certain amount of risk taking unless you choose to make the items and sell them on your e-commerce store. But even with all these issues, Salehoo is definitely a recommended site to start sourcing suppliers and assess market competitiveness.

Is it a worthy investment?

Salehoo costs $67 dollars annually to be a member which I think is a great price considering the amount of support you receive and tools you can get as a member. You also can use it for 60 days and if you are unhappy with it at all, just ask for a refund within 60 days of purchase. You also don’t have to worry about finding suppliers anymore for your online shop site. This site is a great alternative to WWB if you don’t have the funds to fork out $299 (lifetime membership).
