Making money as an affiliate marketer is one of the most profitable ways to make money online. There are a few people out there who might have their own opinion that goes against this idea. It is true that as an affiliate marketer, if you are following all the right steps which includes:

- understanding the trends of the masses
- having a good email follow up system
- following up with your subscribers
- a BIG subscribers list
- and lately.. harnessing the power of social media marketing

If you are following all the above points, then yes you are in for a huge load of money. But what if you are not making enough yet. Have you chosen the wrong niche to be an affiliate? As I’ve mentioned earlier, not understanding the trends or the popularity of a product will send you on a sure road to failure. In short do your home work, i.e do adequate research on the product, look at Google Trends, analyze competing sites and keywords are some of the things you need to do.

Paid search or pay-per-click advertising (PPC) is the most significant category for US affiliates (48%), marginally ahead of true content (SEO) on 46% in terms of the amount of revenue they help to generate. Just under half of affiliates surveyed say that each of these methods is among the most important to them.
Blogs and forums are an important category for 40% of affiliates. Social networking (24%), cashback & reward (23%), email marketing (20%) and coupon codes (19%) are the next most important methods.
